Arion, the imprint of a gesture

Noema JournalOctober 20261 min read

A delicate pattern can change the character of a wall without dominating everything around it.

Arion begins with raw earth worked by hand. A stencil defines the motif; a trowel works the material through its openings. The gesture leaves an imprint that is studied and translated into the ceramic surface of the Brera collection.

The delicacy of the result depends on the relationship between presence and interval. The surface offers a recognisable mark, leaving light to reveal its depth.

Up close, the eye follows the detail. Within the room, relief becomes a more pervasive quality, able to converse with a simple form, a fabric or an area of shadow.

The reference to the hand belongs to the origin of the design: an exploration of matter that continues in ceramics. Arion brings this possibility of slower observation to the wall, allowing the detail to become an encounter.
